Maddie & Zach weren’t strangers to the Covid restrictions! Originally, they were going to have their wedding at the beginning of January, but decided April would (hopefully) work out better, and they were right! Not only did the date change, but so did the venue, and I’m SO happy they chose the one that they did in Gridley. It is GORGEOUS. The Colonia Building is by far one of my favorite venues I’ve photographed at. It’s a photographers dream – an old building with a lot of history – yes please! I was so excited when I found out that a photographer and her husband bought this building! They’ve been working on restoring it and it’s incredible.

Let’s dive into the wedding day, because it was absolutely perfect. One of my favorite parts was hearing a bit more about the couple through the toasts. Zach is an avid hunter and “nerd” haha. (according to his sisters) When one of his sisters said she never thought Zach would find a partner because of his love for hunting, I giggled, because they are SO perfect for each other. Maddie may be a girly girl, but she fell into the family’s arms so quickly, everyone loved her right off the bat as well as Zach, obviously!

Then came the “romantics” which are the portraits I love to capture later in the day. We drove in his family’s old Toyota that has been in the family for years and years. Ready to hear the cutest thing ever? They had their first date in that truck, so it had a lot of meaning throughout the session.

Their fur baby is definitely a huge part of their lives, so of course we had to take some photos with that cutie too! Over all, they were surrounded by so much love and support, and I will never be able to express how much that means to me, being able to witness it all.
